Course Introduction:

Functional movements and athletic success depend on both the proper function of all active muscles and the speed at which these muscular forces are used. Power is used to define this force-speed relationship and one simple way of enhancing this quality is through the use of plyometric training. These refer to exercises that enable a muscle to reach maximal force the shortest period of time.

Course Outline:

The workshop will cover the theoretical and practical aspects of utilising plyometric training for power development.

From this workshop, participants will learn:

  • The physiology of plyometric training;
  • To coach correct execution and progression of lower- and upper-body plyometric exercises
  • To design safe and effective plyometric training programmes.
