This course emphasizes the techniques of deep tissue and recovery massage. Participants will learn essential concepts such as Human Anatomy and Kinesiology in order to build a strong foundation which will aid them in massage. Participants will then learn how to conduct massage techniques such as effleurage, petrissage and tapotement. Participants will also learn the indications / contraindications and the appropriate application of these approaches for various conditions. Additionally, this course provides participants with an understanding of basic medical terminology and the relationship between anatomy/physiology and the practice of sports massage. Finally, participants must complete 10 hours of a massage attachment under the supervision of the trainer.
About the Presenter
This course is conducted by Mr Mohamed Faizul Bin Abdul Wahid. Faizul has been in the sports industry for a very long time. With a Degree in Sports and Exercise Science from Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Australia, he has presented and published works in several journals, including the International Journal of Sports Science and Coaching, and the British Journal of Sport Medicine. Faizul was once a competitive tennis player and coach. Over the course of his career, he managed several national players, elite athletes and school teams. He was a Sports Physiologist at the Singapore Sports Institute (SSI) for 6 years and the lead consultant for Nike Singapore Level Up, offering nationwide football training programmes and assessments in 2008. His strength lies in his research skills, team management, and communication techniques. As such he is a highly qualified instructor and educator in the ISA, providing excellent guidance and a fruitful learning experience.
